By definition, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of maximizing the number of visitors to a particular website by ensuring that the site appears high on the list of results returned by a search engine. In simpler words, it is an activity that attempts to improve search engine rankings in effort to attract more visitors to your web page. For example, when you type a word or phrase in the Google search bar, the search engine will immediately display links to pages in which it considers to be relevant and authoritative. The search engine draws such conclusions by analyzing the number and quality of links from other web pages.

Search engine optimization is a necessity for businesses of all kinds, as it is critical for increasing website traffic, growing your customer base and dominating your market. Search engine optimization allows Google to recognize and rank your website more frequently in search results. SEO is an ever changing tool. Without conducting consistent SEO on your website, it is highly likely that your web traffic will remain stagnant or even decrease if your competitors undertake a stronger SEO campaign than yourself. With competitors and search terms constantly alternating, your position will fluctuate without consistent upkeep from a professional.

Search engine optimization is a slow process that doesn’t happen overnight. Searchable, well-built, and well written websites take time and patience, but are guaranteed to rank better and receive better results due to their proper structure and keyword heavy content. With proper white hat techniques, SEO will build a foundation of relevant traffic that will steadily increase over time.
